Connect your iOS device to Ranorex Studio to run tests and control your apps during execution. To get started, connect the device to your computer and then add it as an endpoint in Ranorex Studio.
Before you begin, make sure you have completed the steps in Prepare your iOS device.
Choose a connection type
You can connect your iOS device to the computer where Ranorex Studio is installed using:
- USB (recommended)
- Wi-Fi
Recommendation: Use USB whenever possible. It’s typically more reliable and supports all features.

Connection requirements
iOS USB connection
To connect an iOS device via USB, you must install iTunes on the computer running Ranorex Studio. iTunes provides the required drivers.
General network requirements and recommendations
- Keep the device powered: Regardless of the connection type (USB/Wi-Fi), keep the device connected to a power source during test creation and execution.
- WiFi network: When connecting via Wi-Fi, the iOS device must be on the same network as the computer running Ranorex Studio.
- Avoid USB hubs: When connecting via USB, avoid USB hubs. Use your computer’s integrated USB ports if possible.

- If the device is recognized, iTunes opens automatically
