Endpoint Settings

This article explains the settings available for endpoints. Most settings apply to Android, iOS, and WebDriver endpoints. WebDriver endpoints also include additional configuration options, explained in Add a WebDriver endpoint.

Click the button to the right of an endpoint to bring up its settings.

Attention: Be careful when editing the endpoint’s address. An incorrect address will result in a connection error and a test failure.

Options	Description
Set as automation root	Click Set as automation root to make an endpoint the single target for your test execution. When an endpoint is set as the automation root: Tests only interact with this endpoint. All communication for test execution is routed through this endpoint. The Run buttons in Ranorex Studio update to reflect the selected automation root. Tip: You can also set the automation root by clicking the icon to the left of an endpoint in the endpoint list.
View details	Displays a detailed view of the endpoint’s properties: Connection status and type Endpoint name Ranorex Service (version of the Ranorex Service App) OS of the mobile device (Android/iOS only) Address Instrumented apps (Android/iOS only. Click the symbol next to an app to start it on the device.
Instrument and deploy app (Android/iOS only)	Use Instrument and deploy app to instrument a mobile app and deploy it to the device. This opens the Ranorex Instrumentation Wizard.
Save ADB log (Android only)	Saves the log file of the Android debug bridge.
Refresh/Edit/Delete	Use these actions to update status, change the endpoint definition, or remove endpoints.
