Use Standalone Spy when you want to inspect an AUT without opening Ranorex Studio, or when you need to load/manage a repository (.rxrep) on a machine where Studio isn’t available.
Start Standalone Spy from Windows
- Open the Windows Start menu.
- Start Ranorex Spy (Standalone).
This is also where you can choose the 32-bit or 64-bit Spy version.
Choose 32-bit vs 64-bit
- Integrated Spy uses the same bitness as Ranorex Studio.
- Standalone Spy lets you select the bitness at launch.
- Recommendation: Use the same bitness as your AUT.
Standalone-only: Repository view (load .rxrep)
In Standalone Spy, you can switch between:
- Element browser (live UI tree), and
-
Repository view (load and manage
.rxrepfiles).
Standalone-only: Select an endpoint (automation root)
Standalone Spy includes an Endpoints option to select which endpoint is the current automation root.
