This article provides troubleshooting steps to follow if the Ranorex Automation add-on fails to install in Mozilla Firefox.
Troubleshooting steps
If you encounter an installation failure, perform the following steps in order. Retry the installation after completing each step to see if the issue is resolved.
1. Run the Instrumentation Wizard as administrator
Permission restrictions often block browser extensions from installing correctly. If you are starting the Instrumentation Wizard from Ranorex Studio, restart Ranorex Studio with administrator privileges.
2. Close Mozilla Firefox
Active browser processes can interfere with the installation of new files. Close all open instances of Mozilla Firefox. Use the Windows Task Manager to ensure no Firefox processes remain active in the background before retrying the instrumentation.
3. Reinstall Mozilla Firefox
Corrupt browser profiles or installation files can prevent add-on integration. Uninstall Mozilla Firefox from your system, then download and install a fresh version from the official Mozilla website. Once reinstalled, run the Instrumentation Wizard again.
4. Reinstall Ranorex Studio
If the previous steps fail, uninstall Ranorex Studio, restart your computer, and perform a clean installation of Ranorex Studio. Once reinstalled, run the Instrumentation Wizard again.
