The Ranorex Chrome Extension allows Ranorex Studio to interact with Google Chrome, enabling automated test execution and accurate element recognition in Chrome-based web applications. Acting as a bridge between Ranorex Studio and the browser, it ensures stable communication throughout the testing process.
Key features of the Ranorex Chrome Extension include:
- Element recognition: Identifies and interacts with web elements in Chrome.
- Test Execution: Supports running automated test scripts on Chrome-based applications.
Note: Chrome extension v1.5.3 was introduced with Ranorex 12.4.1.
Starting with Ranorex 12.4.1 and later, the Chrome extension no longer relies on Group Policies.
Installation
The Ranorex Chrome Extension can be installed either automatically, the recommended method, or manually:
Automatic Installation (Recommended)
- Open Ranorex Studio
- Follow the setup wizard; it will automatically install the extension
- Restart Chrome to complete installation
Manual Installation
- Open the Ranorex Automation page in the Chrome Web Store.
- Click Add to Chrome to install the extension.
Using the extension
Once installed, the extension runs automatically in the background; no manual configuration is required. It enables real-time communication between Ranorex Studio and Chrome during test execution.
Basic Workflow:
- Create or open your test script in Ranorex Studio
- Ensure tests target Chrome browser elements
- Execute tests
- Review results in Ranorex Studio
