Ranorex Studio - Release Notes

Welcome to the latest release of Ranorex Studio. 

This document provides an overview of new features, enhancements, bug fixes, and important notes about this update.

This release includes new capabilities to improve functionality and usability, along with several solutions based on your feedback. Let’s dive into the details!

Ranorex Studio 12.8.1 Release (August 26, 2026) 

This release includes fixes for object recognition on Chrome, Jetpack Compose–based Android applications, Ranorex Spy, and MSBuild version detection and compatibility, along with other improvements.

New features

  • Added a Use a legacy serialization mechanism and Enable tracing logs for the new serialization settings for WinForms.Core plugin.

    Important: Both settings are available starting with Ranorex Studio 12.8.1

Bugs

  • Fixed an issue where inner elements of the right-click context (dropdown) menu could not be identified in Chrome.
  • Fixed an issue where the <element> area of .rxrec files changed automatically when switching branches or loading a solution.
  • Fixed an issue where changing the MSBuildVersion setting in the configuration file did not change the version of MSBuild used by Ranorex Studio.
  • Fixed an issue where Ranorex Studio was not compatible with MSBuild versions 17 and 18, which could cause project creation, build, rebuild, or clean operations to fail.
  • Fixed an issue where text could not be read from or entered into Jetpack Compose BasicTextField controls.
  • Fixed an issue where the screen position of XML-based elements with rid tags did not update correctly.
  • Fixed an issue where Ranorex Spy could not read the TextColor attribute for Jetpack Compose–based Android applications.
  • Fixed an issue where an application disappeared in Ranorex Spy after scrolling to the very bottom of the Jetpack app on Android 13.
  • Fixed an issue with JSON serialization for WPF .NET Core applications.
  • Fixed an issue where TestRail export did not work in Ranorex Studio
