If you have further questions, our sales and support teams are available to assist you
Will there be any discounts or incentives for existing perpetual license customers to switch to a subscription model?
Yes. Legacy customers who transition to the subscription model early will receive special pricing, resulting in the highest-value discounts available. As long as transitioning customers keep their subscriptions current, they will always receive special protected pricing.
What happens to my existing perpetual license?
Customers with perpetual licenses own their software indefinitely and may continue to use them, expand their account, and add more licenses. Customers will receive advanced notice if there are any future plans to discontinue offering maintenance and support renewals on perpetual licensing.
Do I need a runtime license?
A Studio license allows you to create tests for desktop, web, and mobile applications and execute tests on a single concurrent endpoint. A runtime license allows you to execute tests on additional concurrent endpoints, using a tool such as our
Ranorex Remote Agent,
Ranorex Parallel Runner, or
Selenium WebDriver integration. With a runtime license, you can also execute tests on a workstation or server where Ranorex Studio is not installed, by running the test suite as a .exe file from the command line.
What happens to the support and updates for perpetual licenses?
At this time, Ranorex will continue to offer maintenance and support for current perpetual license customers. Perpetual customers may also continue to expand their perpetual licensing suite.
How will the subscription model affect my costs?
The price of the initial subscription license purchase will be less in comparison to perpetual license cost. The pricing at renewal will match the then current retail price for a new subscription license. Contact us if you have specific questions and would like to speak to someone in Sales.
When does my maintenance and support period start?
When purchasing a new license, you’ll automatically have access to 12 months of software maintenance and professional support. If you’ve purchased a Renewal, your renewed access to maintenance and support will commence on the date your previous access expires.
Which licenses do I need to use the Selenium WebDriver integration?
The
Selenium WebDriver integration in Ranorex Studio enables you to create tests in Ranorex Studio and run them on WebDriver endpoints. You will need at least one Ranorex Studio license to create a test in Ranorex Studio and run it on a single concurrent WebDriver endpoint. You will need one Ranorex Runtime License per additional concurrent endpoint.
Will there be any changes to the features and capabilities?
The subscription model will offer the same features and capabilities as the perpetual licenses except for a node-locked license option, which will not be offered as a subscription product.
What happens if a subscription lapses or is not renewed on time?
If a subscription were to lapse/expire, the customer would lose access to the software immediately, however, the renewals team will offer the renewal for up to 12 months.
Can I switch back to a perpetual license if I don't like the subscription model?
No, there will not be an option to revert to a perpetual license once you switch to the subscription model.
Will there be any changes to the licensing terms and conditions?
How will the subscription model impact the use of the software on multiple machines or by multiple users?
The subscription model allows for the same license sharing and usage within your organization as the perpetual license.
How do I know when my access to maintenance and support services ends for perpetual licensing?
You can find the expiration date of your maintenance and support services on the start page of Ranorex Studio.
What happens if I don't extend my maintenance and support period for perpetual licensing?
If you don’t extend your maintenance and support period within the given time, your access to software updates and technical support will expire. If you’re interested in maintenance and support services, please
contact us to receive an individual offer.
Can we co-term current perpetual licenses to migrate to subscription licensing?
Yes. This is the preferred customer path and the renewals team will work with you to ensure a smooth transition. Legacy customers will always receive preferred pricing.
How can we manage and track our subscription licenses?
You can manage, renew, or upgrade your subscription through the
Ranorex customer portal.
What happens if I cancel my subscription?
If you cancel your subscription, you will lose access to Ranorex and its features. Your data and projects will remain intact, but you will need to renew your subscription to regain access.
